FORD ESCORT G3

Welcome to the very reluctant sale of my beloved escort rally car.
I have owned this car for many years and have competed in several different types of motorsport with it in that time, from stage rallying to circuit racing, with great success.
The car is very special and quite possibly unique, in that it is built on the floorpan of a Mk2 escort and thus shares all that models fantastic handling characteristics. It is believed that only a dozen or so of this type of real wheel drive conversion were ever built, and mine is possibly the only one of its kind left.
The car is quick and handles beautifully, is in fantastic condition as I hope you can see from the photographs, and has always been maintained to the highest standard regardless of cost. 
Everything is in date, seats/harnesses/extinguishers etc and the car is prepped and ready to go onto the trailer for its next event.


The car is quite highly spec'd and so Im not going to list every nut and bolt, instead, here is a brief spec of the car to give you some idea what you're looking at.


SHELL
Mk2 escort shell modified to accept a Mk3 outer body fitted with a safety devices roll cage, Lightweight doors, fibreglass bonnet and tailgate, perspex windows, roof vent, RS1600i boot spoiler, purpose made alloy tank with twin pumps, spare wheel holder, all lines inside the car, magard sump guard. Six Hella 3000 spot lamps on purpose made quick release brackets.


ENGINE AND GEARBOX
A very fit and healthy 1600cc 150bhp crossflow running twin weber 45's and a handmade stainless steel exhaust system (I have the full spec of the motor for anyone seriously interested), mated to a 4 speed straight cut rocket box. The engine is mounted via a world cup crossmember as you would expect.


SUSPENSION AND REAR AXLE
At the rear is a heavily strengthened english axle running a 4.4:1 ratio crown wheel and pinion and a plate type LSD. The axle is mated to the car via a rose jointed 5 link system and sprung with adjustable turreted coilovers. At the front you will find adjustable platform bilsteins with roller top mounts, adjustable tca's and an adjustable anti roll bar. The car steers with the usual 2 1/4 turn quickrack.


BRAKES
At the front the car uses princess type 4 pot calipers biting onto vented and drilled discs, and at the rear it again uses drilled discs and has a twin caliper setup, one for the footbrake and one for the hydraulic handbrake. The car also has cables and so conforms with all VOSA and MSA regulations. Competition pads are fitted all round.


WHEELS AND TYRES
The car is sat on lightened and machined RS type alloy wheels which have been powder coated, and the tyres are Dunlop intermediates, 2 of which have done less than 40 miles.


SPARES PACKAGE
The spares package isn't huge but includes a few bits and pieces to get help you along, including, 2 more wheels with Dunlop tyres to match, spare brake pads, a spare fibreglass tailgate and perspex window, some bumper end caps and some lights. 


As I say, the car is prepped and ready to go the trailer right now, is quick, competitive, strong, reliable and turns heads wherever it goes.
