Description 1972 BSA 650A Lightning

The motor and frame of this bike were produced by BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) in 1972 (650 Lightning), which was the LAST YEAR that BSA was in production. The frame has a Sportster neck that currently holds a set of Metzler forks and tubes with an air-cooled front brake (a new addition since the original build). I HIGHLY recommend ditching these forks and going for a narrow springer (can be found on E-bay), with a 12" - 14" over-stock w/ 7 degree rake, with a narrow, spoked rim with NO front brake.
An after-market oil tank has been added, and the oil-in-frame system bypassed. The Lucas electronics have also been replaced, and two Mikuni carburetors have replaced the original Amals.
This bike is a great project for the novice yet passionate mechanic/rider; or is for someone who simply takes pride in the old biker ways in building and maintaining their OWN bike... I have extra parts and tools for this '72 Beezer - including a full gasket kit, headlight, trickle charger, carb parts, and some other miscellaneous stuff.  !!Do your research - this is vintage American history, and is a LAST YEAR production model!! Other guys are selling these old chops between $10,000 - $24,000+, and there are few projects like this one still out there!
