Description 1956 MANX Norton 30M Featherbed Race Bike

MANX was purchased new by Fron Purslow in 1956 and was raced by him for one season in England. In 1957 it was raced at the Isle of Mann Senior TT by Frons nephew Brian Purslow. The bike failed to finish due to a bevel gear failure. Bike was sold off to an American and it went to the US. The bike was dismantled with best intentions to repair the bevel gear problem.  This never happened and the bike sat for 20 years awaiting repair.

In the late 70s the bike was purchased by Mr Tim Paul who took the bike to California where he assembled it into one piece again and it sat in his lounge room. The bevel gear still not repaired.

2010 I purchased the bike and imported it to Australia. I have had the Fuel tank and Oil tank painted to a very high standard, the original wheels have been respoked and the original 19 Borrani alloy rims polished and the hubs painted. The seat has been recovered. I have new fork stauntions and springs from McIntosh Racing and have retained the originals which are included in the sale. New hagon shocks with originals retained. I have new clip ons from McIntosh racing and have retained originals. I have a new alloy front guard from McIntosh Racing and have retained the original front and rear guards. The TT fairing is included but is a bit sad.

Engine has been sent to Peter Dunster of Canberra for a rebuild. I have now decided not to continue with this project and offer it for sale for some one else to take on. And yes I to have not had the bevel gear repaired. This is a very original matching numbers Manx with race history. Bike to be sold dismantled.
