Description 1966 Leyland Moke Fully Restored
There are only a few of these small wheel Mokes around today.
First registered October 1966 and has history from previous owner. Prize winning car (best Moke at the Mini's at the Mill 2013)
It has had a " no expense spared" complete restoration. The body was stripped and blasted, all the panels either repaired or relaced. The body was then etched primed, rust proofed and painted [primer and top coat] with 2 pak paint.
The engine completely re-built .040 O/S bore, .010/.010 re-ground crank. Cylinder head fitted with new valves, guides and unleaded valve seats, rockers reconditioned. Gearbox / diff , fully re-built with new bearings, syncros, drive shaft bushes and drive shaft rubber joints. Starter motor, generator fully reconditioned and all other electrical components ,I.E. voltage reg, switches, lights front and rear, full wiring loom all replaced with new items.
The brake system fitted with all new parts including master cylinders, wheel cylinders, brake shoes and brake lines. Suspension has been completely re-built with all new parts including wheel bearings, arm pivot shafts/bearings, shockers and ball joints.
The seats have been re-trimmed to original" optional extras" specs of the padded type instead of the canvas sling seats. New lap seat belts fitted as per original, with new heavy duty canopy.
It has full South Aust registration and is still currently registered, it has only had 2 outings since completion and has travelled around 50 miles.
This Moke has been restored to close as possible condition as it was first sold by Lynas Motors B.M.C. in Tanunda in October 1966 with all dealer options at the time of sale [Re original owner] and this Moke was in the BMC experience as the original owner's story of trip he did in it in 1968. After he sold it in 1981 it was purchased and used until 1989 then left in a paddock.
It has only been on 2 outings and has travelled only 50 miles since restoration, and would suit someone who is interested in it's historic value for the future.
