Description 1966 Other Makes Excalibur

Beautiful Classic White Excalibur Series 1 Roadster! Investment-grade car and one of only 359 Series 1 cars built! 0-60 in 5.4 seconds but perfectly comfortable around town!
The original Excalibur was the brainchild of Studebaker’s Brooks Stevens, who took inspiration from the famous Mercedes-Benz SSK and decided to make a more modern interpretation. Originally designed in 1964 over a Studebaker chassis with their 289ci V8, Studebaker’s demise forced the project in a different direction and connections ultimately landed the car with Corvette power. Taking into account the car’s 2100 pounds and 300 horsepower V8 mated to a 4-speed manual, the car was rather quick, able to get to 60 mph in just over five seconds and with a top speed of 160! Prices started at $7500, which all but eliminated the average man from buying a new one. Their style and performance have endured and today, they are much more accessible to the antique automobile collector!
We are very excited to offer this 1966 Excalibur SSK Series 1 Roadster! The car is finished in Classic White with Gold accents and hood stripe over a Tan leather interior. The 1966 date-coded 327ci Corvette V8 provides 300 horsepower and mates to a 4-speed Muncie wide ratio transmission with Hurst linkage! Options include simulated exhaust (with actual European rear-exit exhaust, which is quieter), wind wings, chrome bumpers, Fisher seatbelts, leather hood strap, luggage rack, full dash instrumentation, dual trumpet horns, three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and machine-turned dash! The car rides on highly polished 15” 72-spoke chrome knockoff wire wheels wrapped in Michelin 215/75R15 Radial XH tires!
This car hails from a private Colorado collection and shows only 49,380 original miles. As such, the car shows no indication of being used in anything but the nicest sunny and 75 degree days. The chrome and paint were done some time ago and show incredibly well today. Underneath, various suspension components like shocks have seen recent replacement, as have the brake lines and associated hardware. This SSK Roadster is complete with full top and tonneau cover included. These Excaliburs bring awesome American power and sound to the elegant lines of the original Mercedes SSK. The series I carried through 1969 and only 359 were produced (Roadster and Phaeton styles combined) making them extremely rare and desirable to prominent collectors today! We would invite any interested parties to call with additional questions! Thanks for looking!
