Description 1968 Triumph Bonneville T120R $7,000 USD

A timeless Classic Triumph of never bettered beauty and poise.
This bike is an unmolested preservation class example which is becoming nearly impossible to find.

There are plenty of "restored" bikes, but they are always interpretations of what the restorer thinks the original should have been. Powder coat, acrylic paint and stainless steel fasteners were not original!
As you can see in the photos there is a lovely light patina to this bike that hasn't been destroyed.

Many Triumph experts believe that the 1968 Bonneville is the pinacle of the Classic Triumph Twins. With it's beautiful Hi Fi Scarlet color scheme 1968 introduced many signifcant improvements including the effective and attractive Twin Leading Shoe Front Brake, Amal Concentric Carburettors, the Dunlop K70 Front Tire, an attractive finned heat sink for the Zener Diode and the introduction of many SAE fasteners throughout.

Also this was the last year for the elegant exhaust system before the ungainly crossover pipe was fitted in 1969. Some also feel that Triumph began slathering the bikes with too much chrome after 1968.

I have replaced the exhaust with high quality Toga reproductions. Also the seat and some NOS fasteners have been replaced. New Dunlop K70s were also fitted.
However, I have kept all of the original parts that were replaced and these can be refitted should a completely original bike be desired.

A maintanence-free AGM has been fitted. No more corrosion inducing vent tube! Sorry, the original PUZ5A Lucas battery is long gone.

The bike has been lovingly maintained and nearly always starts on the first or second kick. The brakes are surprisingly effective and the handling is crisp and light. I have owned the bike for nearly 20 years and believe that I purchased it from the original owner.

I have always used synthetic oil with a high ZDDP content and hardly ever have used gas with ethanol content. There is no rust in the gas tank and there are very minimal oil leaks. Hey, it's a vintage British bike. The engine and frame numbers match.

Please study the photos and you will understand that this bike represents an unique and fairly priced opportunity to own a fine original example of the craftsmanship of Meriden at the top of it's game.
