This very much sought after 1st edition 1978 Suzuki GS1000 has recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life – the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to motorcycles than ours. This and the fact it's only showing 15516 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks.
We have been unable to confirm this mileage reading. Please disregard it.
The single most important purchase for a classic restoration project is the bike to restore, whether it's going to be a commercial venture or just a hobby interest it all starts here!.
PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES........As you can see this bike is very nearly complete missing just the l/h side panel badge. It has obviously stood a while so the battery is nearly flat & tyres are perished. Sadly the seat cover is punctured.
BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS.........This is the actual bike you are bidding on – Not library pictures from 40 years ago & it is every bit as nice as it looks here.....A true time warp machine!. The wheels are straight with nice clean chrome alloy, good discs, calipers & working master cylinders. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Mudguard is solid & tidy. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look great. Carburetors are free sliding off the twist grip. Paintwork is solid, fuel tank is usably clean inside and has just minor chips & scratches in the original paint. Exhausts are original & solid. Seat base is in very good condition throughout. Indicators are tidy. Chain guard is tidy. Shock absorbers are damping fine. The engine is cosmetically very clean BUT BEST OF ALL when we hooked it up to a good battery & fed it fresh fuel it fires, starts, runs & revs.

The bike is currently unregistered. The registration process is reasonably uncomplicated.

We will provide proof that VAT & Duty are paid on the NOVA system.

REGISTRATION

1.
You need to get the bike MOT’d.

2.
You need to prove the year of manufacture. The American Title will do
this.

3.
You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on
the chassis number.

4.
Send all this paper work to the DVLA, who will charge you £55 for
the 1st
registration & the current fee for the road tax.

5.
The DVLA will send you your age related registration number.
