Description Rover P6 2000TC Series 1 *** MUST SEE ***

Welcome to the auction for this 1970 Rover 2000TC, before I begin to describe the car here is a little information on the P6 model.
Designed in the late 50s and launched in October 1963 the P6 really brought Rover into a new modern era, It was futuristic as it was intended to use a Gas Turbine engine at some point hence the unconventional front suspension to accommodate this. Sadly this never happened but that’s history for you! It also featured a De Dion rear suspension set up, disc brakes all round and an interior designed by David Bache, a man who was stylish beyond belief ( google him you will see what I mean!) It featured a safety steering column that didn’t intrude into the cabin in the event of a collision and soft “shin bins” all of which are common today but back then were ground breaking. In fact the SD1 that followed the P6 was a major technical step back in time.

So onto the car itself:
It’s a 1970 Series 1 2000TC which has to be the most desirable of any of the 4 Cylinder models.
Bodywork is finished in Rover White and has a few age related marks but nothing to detract from its appearance. Panel gaps are excellent and all panels show no signs of any repairs and are extremely straight with no ripples etc. Chrome and all other bright work are in very good condition. It also wears a period GB plate on the bootlid. This is original but very late (1970) series 1 not like many other i have seen on this year that shares a lot of series 2 bits.

Base unit has had some welding in the past but is very neat and to a standard way beyond MOT requirements, Please see pictures I have uploaded below. I am also fully willing to jack the car up for further inspection but anyone who goes underneath does so completely at their own risk.
Engine and gearbox are in excellent order, car starts readily from cold with no nasty rattles, knocks, smoke etc, when warm it idles comfortably and does not overheat, Being critical I would say the carburettors need balancing to make it even smoother. Clutch bites nicely and all gears select as they should with no issues or noises.
Interior is in very good condition, the black leather seats show very little wear but I am being critical again there is a small amount of stitching that needs re doing and a very small spilt in the vinyl at the top of one back seat, this usually occurs due to sun damage.
Car has had a replacement set of carpets which are of very nice quality, there is an invoice for these included, the original are still underneath also. The original Radiomobile radio is still fitted and still works.
Car has full 12 months MOT with NO ADVISORIES and a very large history file with invoices etc going back at least 30 years totalling thousands, backing up the low mileage of 84k!! it really has led a very sheltered life and never moved more than 10 miles between its incredibly low 4 previous owners in the Bristol Area.

Please note that this car has been dry stored for a few years and is 48 year old!!!

Bad point every car got them just want to be completely honest, the fuel gauge has stopped working and just reads 1/4 all the timer and also the clock has stopped, don't forget that this car is 47 year old so just having these as bad points is impressive!!

Please don't hesitate to ask for more pictures or information.

PLEASE SEE MORE DETAILED PICTURES BELOW
I HAVE ALSO INCLUED A YOUTUBE WALKAROUND LINK (COPY & PASTE) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJkwekBvRDA
Please remember you are bidding to buy not to view and any non paying winner WILL be reported, sorry to have to say this but there seems to be a very small number of people who like to try and spoil Ebay for everyone else! Viewing prior to bidding is no problem as car is garaged with good lighting so I will do my best to accommodate wherever possible .  Car is advertised else where and as such I reserve the right to end the auction early.
Winning bidder to pay deposit within 24 hrs of auction ending, remaining balance cash on collection I can also arrange delivery anywhere in the UK at competitive rates.
Good luck and happy bidding
