It’s not often that you see a Rubber Bumper Midget that has
been restored to such a high standard. This car represents a fantastic
investment for the future – I’d say that the value of the rubber bumper cars is
currently rising more quickly than for the chrome bumpered examples!

This car has MOT until August 2018, and has covered only
4000 miles since the full rebuild – and it’s never been out in the wet! The
underside is incredibly clean, as you’ll see in the pictures.

This car was extensively restored in the hands of the
previous owner, who had discovered that his original bodyshell was too far gone
to economically restore. In 2004, the new British Motor Heritage supplied shell
and all new external panels were delivered straight to the local MG specialist
and was painted to an incredibly high standard and all panel gaps made as good
as possible. It was then carefully rust proofed, with all cavities injected
with wax.

From there, most parts were replaced – the original engine
was professionally rebuilt, and most of the fixtures and fittings have been
replaced. It’s not the usual Heritage car that has had a load of tarted up,
used parts fitted – you’ll struggle to find a nicer car.

Mechanically, the car is excellent. Oil pressure is
fantastic, and the car drives very nicely. All new suspension and brakes were
fitted, and the car was returned to chrome bumper ride height, to lose the
wallow that the later cars are renowned for. Therefore, it looks much more
squat, and a lot better for it too! The Rostyle wheels were blasted and painted
before being fitted with all-new Goodyear tyres all round.

The engine bay is also very clean and tidy, and could be
detailed even further. Any parts fitted were either painted or powdercoated.
All new ancillaries have been fitted, including an oil cooler, new starter
motor, alternator etc… the list goes on and on! A Kenlowe fan is fitted to
assist with cooling in stop-start traffic.

The interior is excellent too – the dashboard was repainted
in the correct crackle finish, new carpets and door cards were fitted. The
seats are the originals and are in excellent order. The hood is in good
condition and is nice and taught, with a clear back window. A hood cover is
also included in the sale.

I have lots of bills and receipts, dating from before the
reshell, and for works carried out in the 4000 miles since the build was
completed. I also have the receipt for the bodyshell from British Motor
Heritage.

If you’re looking for a well-sorted car, then this is most
likely the car for you! Considering a new bodyshell is now £9250+VAT, plus
painting, it represents absolutely fantastic value for money. To build a car of
this specification would require in excess of £20,000 today.

Please take your time looking through the photos – I am not trying to hide anything from prospective buyers, like the vast majority of people on eBay these days. Just check my feedback, and you’ll see that I’m a completely honest seller. Do remember that there is no substitute for coming to see the car yourself.

I strongly recommend viewing the car if you plan to buy. I've described it as well as I can. It is sold as seen with no warranty because of its age, and it must be inspected before you hand over any money. All funds must be cleared before the car can be taken away. UK BIDDERS ONLY, PLEASE!

The car must be collected from my home in Chorlton, Manchester, M16. If you have ANY questions – please ask them BEFORE buying.

I can potentially arrange delivery by trailer at extra cost, but again, the car must be inspected before you pay me.

PAYMENT BY PAYPAL IS NOT ACCEPTED.
