Sellers note: 1958-1959 The script on the tin is printed Hydra Glide, not Duo Glide. Evidently from what I have learned. Harley Davidson has been known for using up old stock parts. I am believed the tin is original to this bike.

The 1958 Harley-Davidson FL Duo-Glide motorcycle introduced a genuine rear suspension system, finally giving riders of the big Harleys smoother, modern ride.

Finally, after decades of relying only on a spring saddle for "rear" suspension, the big Harleys adopted a swingarm with coil-over shocks in 1958. With that, the Hydra-Glide became the Duo-Glide, upping the ante in the touring market.

Two versions of the Big Twin continued to be offered: The milder, low-compression FL engine ran cooler and was easier to kick over than the hopped-up FLH, making it better suited to around-town driving.

Still sized at 1200 ccs/74 cubic inches, period Big Twins were advertised at 53-55 horsepower in the FL, 58-60 in the FLH.

This bike has been proffesnionally powder coated a deep dark blue color. The frame, tank, tin, horn, fenders and more. Some small parts have been  rechromed. The odomter reading is not accurate to the rebuild of the engine. there is about 3,500 miles on the Bike after engine rebuild. The odometer gear has been replaced. When the odometer reads 62MPH its really close 65MPH.

This bike is truly an eye catcher! Custom and personalized to its own originol touch. The maunual Kick Start, as good as it gets. Three or four kick starts, down the road you go! The Bike is truly a one of a kind. Has that vintage look and feel, a classic!! This bike is ready to go and turn heads. Or, the perfect bike to complete to a full original restore. Truly is a Pieace of iconic American History.
