Description Yamaha YZ125J 1982

Up for auction is a 1982 Yamaha YZ125J

This model YZ provided a challenging restoration but was worth the effort in the end to preserve a bike with some unusual features and built right in the midst of the 1980's "technology" wars.

This bike was supposed to be raced in the VIPER Series in Victoria but my racing career stalled during its resto'. The bike is mechanically sound and received a full engine re-build including; rod kit, bearings and seals, top end, gear box bearings and seals, shift forks,NOS clutch basket, clutch plates and springs etc.

The frame is powder coated and has new wide foot-pegs, The swing arm has been bead blasted and has new bearing and seals. Suspension has had the full treatment front and rear. The forks have re-chromed upper tubes, new springs and seals. The rear shock has a re-chromed shaft and a full overhaul. All suspension work by "Suspensions R Us" .

Brand new rims (NOS Honda) have been anodised "YZ Gold". Hubs are painted. New stainless steel spokes. New Dunlop Geomax Tyres finish the wheels.

Front brake shoes have been radius ground and set up, rear brake shoes are just new ones.

Topline made the seat-cover and all plastic is original(restored and polished NOT PAINTED!)
Rear-guard is NOS

Pipe is excellent and Geoff Morris(GMC) made me a cool muffler.

The bike has mostly new nuts and bolts all over and major bolts have copped zinc.
Renthal bars, Afam sprocket and RK chain complete the details.

The bike starts up after a few kicks and fills the shed with lovely blue smoke. This clears as it warms up and I run it through the gears up the road a few times. It sounds Great. The bike still needs to be run in and maybe a day at the track for some jetting/tuning or park it in the Man Cave and point and stare.

Happy to assist interstate buyers.
