Description Citroën
You are bidding on a beautifully restored 1968 Citroën 2CV in Mariposa Yellow with a complimentary 2 tone interior.
The Citroën 2CV was originally designed to serve the needs of peasant farmers and winegrowers in France. This French icon is considered to be one of the most classic French cars of all time. This 1968 version retains many of the older, charming features before dash, steering wheel and front grille became adorned with plastic. There were close to 4,000,000 of these adorable cars produced between 1948 and 1990.
This Belgian made version came off the assembly line in 1968 from the Vorst plant just outside of Brussels. Belgian 1 Franc coins were found in the car indicating the car was still in Belgium in 1977.
The automotive journalist Chris Harris covers the car's characteristics beautifully and conveys the essence of this iconic car in this video. http://videos.sapo.pt/84zjVpwOeVPfmsQfiuIP Please note: that Chris' model is 11 years older than the car being presented.
I brought the car to Calgary from Alberta Beach, Alberta on August 6th, 2014 at which time a sympathetic restoration began. The restoration took about 18 months and was completed in May of 2016. The previous Owner restored the engine, brakes and clutch. I restored the bodywork, seats, interior, carpet, brake lines etc.
The car starts and runs well, and happily moves along in city traffic.
The following is the best information on the car: from Previous Owner of the Car
“The serial number is 29004770. I believe this 2CV came from Holland to New York in the mid 80’s, was driven across Canada to the US west coast and was sold to someone in Nevada. It was then purchased by an individual from Utah who eventually sold it (in 2003) on Ebay to the person I bought it from in Edmonton. I purchased it in 2008.”
Window sticker on car confirmed that the car was indeed in Utah in 2002 (Window sticker was removed during restoration)
