Description Vintage Matchless Ajs Motorcycle 1939 Not Triumph Harley Vincent Ariel

I'm devastated to have to sell my pride & joy so i'll make this quick.

Matchless 1939 girder fork bike.
Motor is a 1949 Matchless G80 500cc with a 4 speed CP box professionally coupled to a Model X 23 tooth front engine sprocket.

The motor has just had a top end engine rebuild to the tune of $3000 (receipts supplied).
Motor has not been kicked over as yet as there are still a few things to rebuild.

At some stage the crankcases have been changed to 1948 model 18.

Only problem i had with the bike before engine rebuild was the bearing had gone in the Lucas E3L dynamo, this dynamo is yet to be refurbished & needs to be done & reinstalled before the rest of the left hand side of the bike can be reinstalled.

Front & rear brakes & bearings done & work fine.
Carby rebuilt.
Various new cables.
Roadworthy tyres about 2 years old.
Engine is in.

Lucas dynamo needs rebuilding & remaining parts put back together.
Minor wiring needs resoldering.

Being a British bike & more importantly a bike of this age obviously there is an amount of tinkering & mechanical aptitude/ patience required for the task....this pales into insignificance when that bike continues to fire first kick, continues to turn heads & drop jaws wherever she goes, & continues thump thump thumping up any road you take her.
Am happy to answer any questions.
Bike is in Brisbane & will help load for motorcycle transport courier at buyers cost.
Have a close look at the front hub photo, see what the old fellas did there? don't see this stuff anymore...the overall look of this bike is worth the money even without the 3 grand engine rebuild, that's 78 years of age wearied can't replicate that shit...
If you're serious on acquiring this piece of motorcycling history then send me a message...i'm quite happy for a phone call or two!

Update 26/5...there's a tonne of interest in this bike, serious offers considered, don't wait till the last minute!

Update 28/5...after a few informative emails I've received in the last day or two from various knowledgeable Matchless/Ajs folk in the U.K. I would like to add this information to the item description...although I have known from previous owner & registration papers that this IS a 1939 G3LWO with a 49G80 motor in it, it has been brought to my attention that this bike seems to be in the rare 'change over' range in late 1939 where they changed from girder forks to teledraulic, single front downtube frame, & gauges now not in tank (plus a few other bracketery items)...this is both informative & confusing as the frame number suggests an early 42 frame with splayed tank supports but all other items suggest a 'cut & dry' 1939 bike. Who would really know after all these years? Obviously there has been a welcomed motor upgrade at some point of time, & rightly so as you can't ride the bloody thing with a shithouse motor...regardless, $3000 worth of rebuilt motor already figure out the rest, I bought the bike for $6500, registered it immediately & rode it hard for 2 years, did wheel bearings, brakes, tyres, engine top end rebuild, carby....Starting bid is what I bought it for...someone will get a better deal out of this than what I did/will
