Description CX500 Turbo

This is one of 6 bikes brought into the country a year early for dealer evaluation.  They weren't released until 1982.

They are priced at around $10,000 when fully restored.

I've owned it for around 5 years & replaced the cam chain, water pump (& oil seal), front brakes, wheel bearings, fuel pump, battery, all fluids, headstem bearing, clutch friction plates, tyres, turbo oil feed hose.  Therefore, the nuisance stuff has all been done.  You'll get a heap of photo's of all this on a USB stick with the bike.

I've also used it regularly for those years & it likes the open road.  So far, I've ridden it to Victor Harbor in S.A. Sutton near Canberra, Mt Gambier & numerous trips to Phillip Island MotoGP's, Superbike's & Historic events.

Currently it needs the metal clutch plates replaced & perhaps a clean out of the rear brake.

This bike isn't restored but kept in working order as a regular rider in my time with it.  It's in original condition & of course will come up due for a coat of paint soon (after 36 years), but still looks the part & attracts attention everywhere it goes. (Allow an extra 10 minutes for each ride :-) ).

It ain't perfect, but it's good for it's age and been reliable too.  Club reg is awesome for these older bikes & insurance is also a lot cheaper for Club Permit machines.

You are invited to check it out Before bidding, also ask anything about it.  No test rides as it's too easy to redline & these are a little top heavy.

No promises but a Good & Bad list....

Turbocharged & a nice gentle thrill when that kicks in (at around 4,500 rpm)
Tyres should be RWC
Rides well (except for the current metal clutch plate issue)
Easy riding position.
Starts easy (Fuel injected).
Most of the maintenance work done

Sluggish until the Turbo gets going (it's only 500cc & 270kg in weight).
Metal clutch plates (grippy & warped)
Speedo is in-accurate
Panels & screen are showing their age (original, as far as I know except one side cover is aftermarket).  Front forks are showing scratch marks from removing the fairing (Previous Owners). General chips in paint & finishes around the whole 36 year old bike.
Rear monoshock isn't holding air for long.
Left footpeg is bent slightly
