Description Kawasaki: Other

1979 Kawasaki KZ 1000
MK II for sale. I am offering this bike for sale, which I have owned for the
last 5 years or so, and which is always the topic of conversation, wherever I
ride it. This bike has clear title. The bike has relatively low mileage for a bike this vintage : 28,642
kilometres (17,680 miles). The bike was originally red, and I had it painted
this color blue, and I had the frame powder-coated. It runs and pulls really
nice. Kicks over nice and smooth, plus starts fairly easily with electric
starter. There is a new Dyna S ignition, carbs have been rebuilt, steering stem
bearing and swing arm bearing were replaced, gas tank is in great shape, no
dents, no inside rust. Compression is good, tires are in great shape, all the
electrical runs great. Plastic is all in great shape, as is the chrome, except
for very small pitting on the handlebars. Things that are not original are the
black Kerker 4-1 exhaust, seat, front master cylinder, meter covers, mirrors
and two of the blinkers.  Things that I know not to be perfect are a small
bit of paint peeling near the gas tank cap, one of the cam end plug leaks (but
only seldom) and like many older Kawasakis, this bike has to warm up for 5-10
mins before riding, if it hasn’t been started in a while. The white
manufacturers build decal was removed when the bike was powder-coated, but the
frame serial number is clearly visible on this bike. This bike is located in
Newfoundland, Canada, and I will crate the bike, and buyer will be responsible
for cost of shipment. I can suggest a local shipper to arrange shipping and/or
quote shipping costs. Buyer will also be responsible for arranging a Customs' Broker, if buyer is located outside of Canada. If you had the time and effort, this bike could be
restored to something absolutely amazing, or keep it as is, which is something
great, a real collector’s bike.  These bikes don’t often come up for sale,
so take advantage of this opportunity.  Spring is almost here, you could
be riding this bike very soon! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to
send me a message.
