Description 1967 Austin Healey MkIII BJ8
For sale with Barons Auctions on Tuesday 28th February
Classic Winter Warmer Auction at Sandown Park, KT10 9AJ
The 3000 Mark III was launched in October 1963, and remained in production until the end of 1967, when manufacture of Austin-Healeys ceased. Designated the BJ8, the 2+2 Mark III was the most powerful and luxurious of the big Healeys, with a standard walnut-veneer dash, wind-up windows, and a 150 hp engine. Added power came from a new camshaft and valve springs, twin SU 2" HD8 carburettors, and a new exhaust system design. Servo-assisted brakes were also standard. Options remained otherwise the same, except that the standard interior trim was downgraded to Ambla vinyl, with leather as an extra. A total of 17,712 Mark IIIs were made.
This is a 1967 Austin Healey BJ8, VIN number HBJ8L34192, recently imported to the U.K. from Indiana. A project car comprising title, and a LHD rolling chassis. The chassis will need work, but is not too bad. Engine is in situ, and appears to turn. Gearbox and Overdrive are fitted, but are an unknown quantity.
The car stands on a set of used chrome wire wheels with reasonable tyres. Doors and wings are all loosely fitted to the car, as are the bonnet and boot, along with windscreen. There are some instruments, but missing parts include the dash, seats, and hood with frame.
Guide price £15,000 to £1`8,000
