Description VW GOLF MK2 VR6 TWIN TURBO 6 SPEED 4x4
My pride and joy (The Beast from the East) started life in 1986 as a 1.8 GTI, was fitted with the 2.9 Corrado storm engine back in the mid 90's (Performance VW magazine Nov 1999 cover car). I brought it in 2001 from a good friend that's when the real transformation began. Its had an engine re-build- single turbo which was featured in GOLf + magazine August 2007. In 2009 I wanted to create something that had never been created before which I think I have achieved. As much as it saddens me to sell it having had so much fun and pleasure with it over the last 14 years, circumstances change and I now have a young family. Time is limited and priorities change.
Below I have listed everything that I have done to create this one off and I cannot emphasise enough this is NOT an everyday use car.
Engine
Top to bottom fully rebuilt 2.9 Corrado VR6 bored to fit forged JE low comp pistons
Putar con rods.
ARP studs and bolts all round custom twin turbo manifold with two T3/T4 hybrid turbo 3” straight through exhaust, stainless steel intercooler pipe work with massive front mounted intercooler.
Wizard of NOS with direct port controlled by a minimax progressive control unit.
Emerald K3stand alone engine management system.
Chassis and Drive-train
Corrado front VR6 sub frame customised to accommodate 6 speed gearbox.
Fully poly bushed custom solid engine mounts.
VW Golf Mk2 Syncro rear sub frame modified to house R32 heldex rear diff also fully poly bushed custom alloy fuel tank relocated in boot.
FK Konigsport fully adjustable coil-overs.
Golf R32 6 speed gearbox housing diesel gearing, Helix 6 paddle copper clutch with custom flywheel, Custom front drive shafts, R32 transfer box, prop shaft with customised rear diff (switchable100% fwd to 50/50 front to rear)
Brakes
Front: Willwood 4 pot lite callipers with 310mm rally dynamic discs.
Rear:
Corrado VR6 280mm front disc with Audi callipers.
Wheels:
17x7.5 Nissan skyline light weight race deep dish alloys.
Body
Swage lines smoothed on rear quarters.
90 spec front doors with door handles removed and flushed opened by key fob.
Flushed tail-gate with registration plate located in rear bumper.
Corrado Angel Eye head lamps in Rallye custom slam panel with modified Rallye grill.
G60 arches and sills.
Suzuki cappuccino vent grafted into front wing.
Painted BMW A08.
Fuel filler cap flushed.
Interior
Audi TT dash with oil temp, oil pressure and water temp gauges grafted into passenger air bag space and VW Golf 4 motion clocks.
BMW E36 M3 front seats trimmed with Alcantara centres.
VW Corrado rear seat bench with NOS bottle in centre arm rest.
As mentioned above this is NOT an everyday use car and was designed for track and show purposes however I have also had it road legal up until the last MOT expired (2015)
