Description 1977 Yamaha DT250 Enduro "Must be seen"

Here is a classic 2 stroke dual sport vintage motorcycle that has had 3 adult owners since new and is in absolutely beautiful condition. I'm 48 years old and wanted one of these WAY back in the day, After an on & off search of about 20 years I finally found one to suit my fussy nature so purchased it a couple years back and had it shipped to me from the Vermont area.

Over the next couple years I've invested lots of time and money to make this beauty look and function as it did back in 1977. This bike now still has only 5650 original miles, still has the original seat and cover, tool kit and owners manual. This bike still has the "RARE" plastic hinged tool box cover, These are no longer available from Yamaha and are missing on 9 out of 10 Monoshock DT's. This was a labor of love for me and no budget was set, Here's some of the improvements I have made:

- Forks removed & professionally polished, New OEM Yamaha seals installed with new fork oil and NOS rubber fork boot caps.

- New Correct tread trials tires with new tubes.

- OEM Yamaha levers, grips and chrome handlebars.

- All bodywork professionally stripped, primed, painted & cleared with the correct paint code "Yamaha Balboa Blue" with all new decals from Speed & Sport. This was an expensive job done by local body shop manager with over 30 years experience, Correct flex agents were used on all plastic parts for longevity. NOTE- The inside of tank has never been treated or messed with. It looks brand new and doesn't even require an inline fuel filter as seen on many older bikes.

- Engine was removed & disassembled to paint with Duplicolor DE1634 low gloss black. The cylinder was lightly honed and re-assembled with NOS Yamaha std. size piston, rings, wristpin bearing & circlip. All new gaskets and oil seals were used as well as a polished allen head bolt kit.

- Oil pump removed, cleaned, inspected and re-installed.

- Exhaust sanded, sprayed in same low gloss black & NOS exhaust gasket installed.

- Original rims & spokes polished , original paint on hubs- just polished.

- Complete carb kit installed with new gaskets.

- All rubbers are new for kick start and shifter and all fasteners & grommets for sidecovers, etc.

- New swingarm bearings, New chain, New point & condenser, New flasher.

- New NOS Yamaha rear blinkers (paid $180)

- New NOS Yamaha battery (paid $80)

-New Yuasa battery and new aftermarket rear footpegs.

- Many hours were spent on this restoration, I think the pics will speak for themselves.

Absolutely everything works on this bike....... oil injection, all lights, horn, oil level indicator light and all controls & cables function free & smooth as new.I am very fussy with my toys and wanted this bike to be as close to perfect as I could get it. The bike always starts 1st-2nd kick, idles, pulls smooth & hard as it should & will cruise at 50 mph easily with it's stock gearing. I have owned vintage Kawasaki KE's and Suzuki TS endures but the vintage Yamaha endures with monoshock are truly outstanding motorcycles that continue to increase in value. This one was carefully restored and I have put nearly 300 miles on since with MANY compliments and thumbs up at stop lights. I truly think a nicer example would be very hard to find. I am now on a new competition bike obsession and wish to purchase a 2017 Beta 300RR so selling this gem to help fund purchase.
