Finished in two-tone burgundy and white, matching burgundy hide and cream piping interior. In outstanding condition throughout.
Distinctive plate NLJ 999. Unique history; first registered by George Hartwell (Rootes main dealer, credited with developing the Alpine) and used in Hartwell’s 1954 publicity brochure (see photo). In contact with previous owners back to 1968.
Converted early in its life to a discreet and very usable 2+2 configuration.
Fully restored in 2007 – bodywork completed by Ken Sparkes, Alpine specialist.
Mk 3 engine, Bamforth (Sunbeam specialist) floor change, overdrive.
Mohair hood with zip-out rear window, mohair tonneau cover.
Original style tool bags, full suite of tools.
Fire extinguisher fitted in boot.
New wiring loom in correct period style, includes hazard lights, headlamp flasher, additional fuses and negative earth wiring.
Original Rootes owner’s handbook, workshop manual, parts catalogue and wall lubrication chart, together with modern reprints of all of these for ‘garage’ use.
Also owners’ club technical tips manual and magazines.
Full photographic record of the restoration, receipts approx £35k, extensive history. Further pictures at http://s1289.photobucket.com/user/ratkins5/library/NLJ999?sort=6&page=1
