Description 1976 HONDA 400 Four CAFE RACER (relisting as I had 2 time wasters)

I have owned this bike in excess of 25 years ! It had been sitting in the garage under wraps untill 2008 , when I pulled it out and decided it was time to do with it what I had always dreamt of doing. Turning it into a head turning Cafe racer with no expense spared ! Mission Accomplished !!. The bike was first displayed at the VJMC rally in Healsville in 2009, where it won lots of Admirers and featured on a few websites as well. It was also last month at the 2015 VJMC rally in Canberra , so if you know anyone who attended that they can tell you about it as well. The bike has been pretty well been rebuilt from the ground up, with many small details that you wouldn't necessarily pick up on the photos. In 2012 the top end of the motor was professionally rebuilt by Colin Campbell of Campbell Classic Motorbikes(central coast NSW) - I sent the bike up to Colin for this, as he is an expert on Honda motors , at that point of time it was bored out with a 460 Kit and fully rebuilt, the motor was also Hydro blasted - whilst the bike looked great before this, the motor was just stock and tired - it now has a motor to match its looks - in reality since the rebuild I have probably only done about 300km ( The speedo reading is 35000K)- a few club rides and the occasional sunny Sunday. The Hydroblasting makes the motor look like it has just come out of the crate. Bike was professionally painted by Redback Racepaint in Canberra and the depth and quality of the paintwork is fantastic - the lettering on the tank , side covers and the motif HM (Honda Motors) on the rear are painted - not stickers. The seatbase unit was imported from Colarado USA and was specifically made to suit the 400/4 - it uses the original fixing mounts and is still hinged and can be opened the same as the original seat. The wheels are period correct - from the seventies - and are Henry Abe mags -( if you google this - you will see how rare and expensive these are). Clubman bars fitted and brand new - HONDA ORIGINAL - switch controls fitted. Lots of polishing and little details like the speedo and tacho surround having a stainless cover. New bearings wheels and swing arm. Beautiful 4 into one chrome original header pipes with a staintune muffler ( again the real deal from the 70's). Only negative is has a very small oil leak, but not very noticeable - I haven't bothered with it and i'm fairly fussy about this bike. I can tell you that a small fortune has been spent on this bike ( just the top end rebuilt was over 3 K ) , hydro blasting , professional paint , Honda original switch gear ( ive bought bikes for less then the cost of just these :) ) imported parts like the seat base, the Henry Abe Wheels and obviously the bike itself. The 400/4 has a bit of a cult following and a great reputation. What the bike cost to build, sadly no one would probably ever pay that for it (I dont even want to add it up properly, its that much!)
Regretably I have to let this bike go, and someone will get a bargain ( no matter what they pay, under 9-10K would represent a saving and a great buy) .
