MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this handsome and rarely seen 1942 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet that has resided with the same New Mexico owner since 1970…43 years! One really had to be on the top rung of the social ladder to even own one of these! This is a truly forties icon classic, finished in a deep rich black paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Both the front and rear bumpers fit nicely and compliment the body. The vehicle’s electrical convertible top is a beautiful contrasting Tan “Stayfast” layered waterproof material. Paint and body shows extremely well with no visible evidence of repair or damage that we could find.

The interior continues the theme of the exterior with the tan cloth/leather and front split bench seats and rear bench seat and all look great with no major signs of wear visible wear. The door panels and dashboard are designed to match the exterior of the car and look fantastic.

This vehicle’s recent restoration included media prep and paint. New mohair and leather interior. Carpets, trunk and convertible top by Al Knoch, windshield wipers inoperable. Grille and dash appointments present the car as a 1946-47 rather than a 1942 model. This 1 of 136 Lincoln Continental Cabriolets built in 1942 features a (1949-1951) 337 cu in. 152 hp Flathead V8 (rebuilt by the New Mexico owner of 43 years) adapted to the original overdrive transmission! The car has been delicately driven weekly in a dry southwestern climate, and has always been garaged. The car has a metric odometer since it resided in Mexico City for many years and used by the Chief of Police. The car was imported back to the United States in the 1960’s where ownership resulted in good stewardship and enjoyment by Classic Car owners in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico. The car is currently driven about 400 kilometers a year. Included are the list of repairs and modifications, restoration material, parts catalogs and photographs, service bulletins, Special Anniversary books and Authenticity manual. “Lincoln Continental Owners Club” articles and magazines, copies of the original owners manual and even some spare parts! This extremely good looking and well equipped Continental will delight even the most discerning early classic car collector or enthusiast.

The Lincoln Motor Company (also known simply as Lincoln) is a division of the Ford Motor Company that sells luxury vehicles under the Lincoln brand. Lincoln Continentals from 1939 to 1941 shared largely the same body design with each other; based on the Lincoln Zephyr, the Continental received few updates from year to year.

For the 1942 model year, all Lincoln models were given squared-up fenders, and a revised grille. The result was a boxier, somewhat heavier look in keeping with then-current design trends, but perhaps less graceful in retrospect. 1942 production was shortened, following the entry of the United States into World War II; which led to the suspension of production of automobiles for civilian use. The 1939–1948 Continental is recognized as a “Full Classic” by the Classic Car Club of America, one of the last-built cars to be so recognized. As of 2015, the 1948 Lincoln Continental and 1948 Lincoln are the last cars produced and sold by a major U.S. automaker with a V12 engine

These Lincolns are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid well kept condition. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! Be sure to check out our 1948 Lincoln Continentals!

Current mileage on the odometer shows 69,988 kilometers, it is sold as is and is mileage exempt. The car is being sold on a clean & clear title.

Warranty

ALL SALES ARE FINAL WITH CAR BEING SOLD WHERE IS, AS IS! The vehicle is offered with a right to a personal inspection by any bidder or agent of any bidder. The vehicle is available for inspection prior to bidding. If you are the high bidder and unable to inspect said vehicle before auction close, you or an agent will have (7) days to inspect said vehicle after the close of auction. I encourage a physical inspection strongly to avoid any misunderstandings or representations. All used vehicles should be assumed to have some degree of wear. No vehicle is perfect to everyone. Each vehicle has its strengths, styles, tendencies and shortcomings. Therefore, despite our best efforts to verify a vehicle’s mechanical condition, we are not able to warranty a manufacturer’s workmanship or previous owner’s diligence in care. It is for this reason that all vehicles are sold ”WHERE/IS, AS/IS”. We have described the above mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability. However, with all classic and exotic vehicles, the condition is subjective. Please be advised that no oral or written statements concerning any vehicle constitutes a representation or warranty of the condition of the said vehicle.

INDUSTRY UNIQUE RETURN POLICY: If for any reason you receive your vehicle and have buyer’s remorse, are not happy with the vehicle or just don’t want it for any reason we will purchase the car back from you. We must be notified in writing of your decision to return the vehicle within seven (7) days of your receipt of said vehicle. The vehicle may not have more than 75 additional miles on the odometer from the time it left our possession and be returned in the same condition that it left. You WILL be responsible for a restocking fee that will equal 20% of the purchase price of the vehicle, no exceptions. You will also be responsible for shipping the vehicle back to our shop at your expense.
