Description Fiat 500 Giardiniera Station wagon 1962 classic barn find restoration project

Rare opportunity to own a Fiat 500 Giardiniera station wagon for restoration. This factory right hand drive vehicle was one of a small number of 'suicide door' wagons imported to Australia in 1962 and last registered in 1981.

The car was stored in Sale (rural Victoria) until discovered in 2009 when I purchased it through the Fiat Car Club of Victoria and has been garaged since.

The vehicle starts, engine runs and idles well, gears and clutch engage but brake hydraulics require overhaul due to long storage.

Here is a brief visual summary of the vehicle condition

-Body is remarkably solid with no visible holes in original floor pans
-Minor area of perforation in the passenger side outer sill.
-Some corrosion of front panel below battery area although box is solid.
-Rear door perforated inner frame at base and bubbles in lower skin.
-Driver's door has several dents and bubble in lower skin
-Passenger side quarter panel has amateur panel repairs between wheel arch and taillight and corrosion at base of both rear wheel arches
-Dent around LH front bumper mount area with evidence of previous repairs to this guard

-All original head, tail and indicator lights in good condition
-Correct early front badge with separate aluminium wings
-Factory opening sunroof with correct original material
-Correct wagon wheels and hubcaps with original finned brake drums
-Interior vinyl has hardened and cracked with areas of split stitching
-Surface corrosion of sunroof frame and mildew on sun visors
-Interior switches, door handles and inner trims all present
-Rubber mats for rear seat back and load area included
-Odometer shows 53468 miles
-Original owner handbook included

Overall this vehicle presents in a used and unrestored condition consistent with its 19 years of use prior to long storage.

Here is a chance to own a rare and collectable Italian microcar without the $30k pricetag of the others currently on sale in Australia. Vehicle is located in Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and inspection by appointment prior to auction to assess condition is encouraged.

Reserve is reallistic as I need the storage space for another vehicle - there is no buy it now price and auction will run to end, highest bidder above reserve owns it!

Successful bidder to contact seller and pay $500 deposit within 24 hours of end of Auction, settlement in full and collection to occur within 7 days.

Good luck!
