Description 1976 JAGUAR XJ 4.2 C AUTO GREEN

it is with regret that i have to put up for auction my XJ-C. I have had this car for two and a half years now and have got it from "barn find" to MoT'd and roadworthy over that time. works have included  full replacement of floor pans front and rear and the replacement of inner and outer cills. All welding was done last October to the chassis to bring it to MoT standard. Needless to say new carpets and under felt are installed along with new over mats. the car has had a front to back mechanical inspection and repairs where required to the brakes, steering, suspension and engine. Pads, bushes, etc. The engine has new plugs, points, rotor, leads etc and runs quite sweetly and is free revving.Oil pressure shows 40lb when hot and when the gauge works, it is intermittent, i think i need a new sender. All fluids, diff, gearbox, engine, coolant, have been changed out and filters replaced with new. Fuel tanks were drained and cleaned and the pumps have been removed, being replaced with a single pump positioned up front in the engine bay. In line fuel filters are now all accessible. Fuel is drawn simultaneously from both tanks to the single pump. The fuel gauge, however, does not work at this stage though the sender units are still in place. I believe some fettling with the wiring could get the gauge working. There is a full stainless exhaust fitted, cost me £1,200 a couple of months back!!Bodily the car is in quite good condition thanks to the Zeibart application from new. There are a few marks consumate with age but overall it does not look tooo bad. The chrome is in acceptable order and is all there. naturally there is some pitting in places. Paint has been applied in the past and shows some "orange peel" My mind was to flat and polish to see how this came up, but bravery isnt my strong point!! the car does polish up well but if you want concourse........... The car sits on the rather pretty GKN Kent alloys which are in excellent condition.
Interior is all there however the headlining does need doing. this was next on my list of things to do as the rest i could cope with. Seats are in reasonable order but would benefit from re-colouring. Carpets, as stated, have been replaced.
Speedo, fuel gauge, radio and dash lights dont work at the moment. Speedo possible cable, fuel gauge possible sender wiring, dash lights and radio, no idea.
All windows work, though at varying speeds. A spring job was to strip them down, clean up and refit. The drivers side glass does not meet in the middle, either the rear glass is not all the way up or the minor sagging of the door is preventing this. Passenger door also showing a bit of sagging and will require a bit of fettling, though both doors shut and lock.
in a nutshell, this is now a good solid runner with Mot and all the major work done. It will take some work to get perfect or it can be used whilst improvements are made.
Im sure i have covered most details but please feel free to contact me should you require any further information.

this car is advertised elsewhere so i may reserve the right to end the auction. No warranty implied or given. I would advise viewing prior to bidding or contact me to discuss. i have other photo's ready to eMail if required.
