Description Bobber Cafe Racer Custom Streetfighter BMW K100

Once you strip the 1,000cc 90 bhp BMW K100 down to its basics, the single sided swing-arm combined with the minimalist frame bolted to the engine, means that in its naked form this a light, powerful and simple donor for a custom bike - completely different to what you would have expected given its normal appearance and reputation. It was this conclusion which lead us at 2WheelsMiklos to turn this particular bike (a fully faired 1986 BMW K100 RT) into something special - a fairly aggressive but very rideable streetfighter.

To ensure the design works, two key aspects needed to be dealt with - firstly to replace the standard header pipes with something more robust and good looking, and secondly to simplify the airbox, battery box and a fair amount of the electrics to give the clean see-through look that one wants to see in a good custom bike.
To this end we fabricated a new set of header pipes - and connected them in a 4-into-1 configuration to a Kerker tail pipe. We also converted the bike to use a large pod air filter and a small Shorai lithium battery. This allowed us to redesign the space above the engine to accommodate almost all the electrics (including battery, fuse box and ignition) and so keep the space behind the engine very open.
The rear sub-frame was altered to accommodate the  custom upholstered solo seat which is aligned with the bottom of the petrol tank.
Custom front and rear lights have been fitted plus bar-end indicators and clip-on handlebars.
Custom rear sets were designed, fabricated and fitted.
The engine has been thoroughly inspected and serviced (including fitting a new clutch) and painted.
Fork seals have been replaced, a new Hagon shock fitted and all brake lines redone as braided lines. New control cables and a new rear disc have also been fitted.
The bike has been professionally painted with a "steam punk" motif in metallic copper (also the frame) and a stainless steel colour (with painted-on rivets). The wheels have been painted black

The bike was tested and put through an MOT. Today it is very rideable and reliable and will always get you noticed.
